For the month of November, my family (John, Lee, Dylan & Anna) and I will be walking/running/riding 10km per day or up to the total of 300km for the month, to raise funds for NeuroEndocrine Cancer Australia, formally known as the unicorn foundation.
In late October 2020, our mum and wife Lynne was diagnosed with metastatic high grade NeuroEndocrine cancer. Lynne went through surgeries, chemotherapy and radiotherapy starting from November 2020. In September 2021 we lost our beloved wife and mother Lynne to this cruel disease.
NeuroEndocrine (NET) Cancer is rare (represented by zebra stripes) and one that many people have never heard of. Little is known about the disease in Australia, despite the growing number of people getting diagnosed. It is often misdiagnosed, diagnosed incidentally and in later stages, and this was unfortunately the case for Lynne. Currently there is no cure.
Your donations will help provide telephone support, online resources, facilitate peer support groups and allow the foundation to fund life changing research. All donations are tax detectable.
I hope this fundraiser will raise awareness about NeuroEndocrine Cancer and assist in the acknowledgment of World NeuroEndocrine cancer day which is held on the 10th November.
We will be tracking our activity on Strava. If you would like to join the challenge please message us and we will add you.
