Ian Salmon

To an amazing man and wonderful Godfather, Ian you raised the bar on inspiration to everyone who knew you. We will always remember your kindness in sharing your home with Helen and I on our visit to Australia in 1991. Since then your generosity in bringing my entire family to visit you in Australia in 2014 and again in 2019 gives us memories we will treasure for as long as we live. The world needs more Ian Salmons, not one less.. You were so successful in business and your legacy will live on in the wonderful family raised by you and Margaret - and all of whom we extend an open invitation to for any visiting the UK. We also have very fond memories of your visits to us in the UK as well as our travels 'down-under' - Ian you will be sorely missed by all, especially by family but also by all touched by you. My sister, Helen, and I were very grateful for the great kindness and friendship that Mr Salmon gave to our father in his last years. We also enjoyed his company, and felt privileged to hear about his life, starting with his recollections of his experiences as a child in WWII.

My wife Penelope and I were privileged to share time in New Zealand with Ian and Margaret, and then with Ian in later years in Sydney and at Nelson Bay. As a colleague director, I learned much from Ian and will always remember him with gratitude for that.

Every step, the destination is closer

Ian had a tremendous intellect and a forceful personality - attributes not always appreciated in Australia . The AMP began a long downhill slide after he left.

Ian was a wonderful man full of kindness and wisdom. He made a real difference to people he met throughout his life be that business, Rotary or his many personal connections. A true gentleman in every sense of the word.
