Amanda’s incredible 3km swim

  • February 26, 2017

Amanda was diagnosed with NET Cancer and MEN1 syndrome in April 2013. She was diagnosed when recovering in hospital from an unrelated brain tumour.

Swimming 3km at the Noosa Ocean Swim titles was a huge deal as since becoming a diabetic (after surgery removed her pancreas), she had a fear or swimming and had not been out in open water.  She decided that the swim would be for herself and all the patients, families and friends affected by NETs.  The message she wanted to give everyone was to never give up, keep fighting, face your fears head on and to just keep swimming.

So on  11th February, Amanda set out and emerged triumpant from the water proudly saying "I made it."   The Unicorn Foundation is so very thankful and proud of you Amanda, you're an absolute superstar!

Some parting words from Amanda "I swam 3km and raised over $2,000 for NET cancer and the Unicorn Foundation. Thank you all sooo much for your donations to this amazing cause which is so close to my heart! I am a survivor and want to help give others hope to beat this!!!"
