Vale Paul Stephenson, a true unicorn and pillar of NECA

It is with great sadness that we share the recent passing of Paul Stephenson. Paul has been a board member, our accountant and loyal treasurer at NECA for the past 12 years.

Paul has also been so much more than that, from supporting and guiding newly diagnosed patients, cycling and running to raise money, official event photographer, conference speaker, confidant and member of our family.

We have shared many laughs and many, many tears but through the whole time Paul was our stability, our go to, our rock. As he gave so much to us and our NET community, Paul also was the epicentre to his family, loving husband to Desiree, father to Nick, father-in-law to Andreea, grandfather to Alex and a brother and a son.

Paul was also a loyal friend, and those friends became loyal supporters of our organisation and community over the years, such was the respect they had for anything Paul asked of them. Paul was most proud of his family and everything he did was to ensure that he had more time with them.

It has been a gift to be part of Paul’s life since we met all those years ago, to watch Nick grow up from a school kid to a dad, to watch Paul and Desiree start businesses, build houses, cycle across the country, not letting this insidious cancer from getting in the way of living a full life.

"Thank you, dear friend, for making our lives all the richer for knowing you, thank you for what you dedicated to our community and thank you Desiree and Nick for sharing such a special person with us, we will miss him immensely."

Simone Leyden, AM, Co-founder and Board Member
