Prof Michael Michael

Prof Michael is a Gastrointestinal (GI) and Neuroendocrine (NEN) Medical Oncologist at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre (PMCC); Clinical/Trial Lead for the Upper Gastrointestinal Medical Oncology Service; Co-Chair of the PMCC European Neuroendocrine Tumour Society (ENETs) accredited NET Centre of Excellence; and Professorial Fellow at The University of Melbourne Michael’s research represents a very close collaboration with institutional and outside medical specialists, and laboratory scientists in GI/NET oncology with regards to the clinical trial design and coordination of parallel translational studies to achieve optimisation of patient treatment.

His research work and collaborations have generated over $23 million in competitive funding and $4 million from industry He has also been extensively involved in postgraduate training of junior/senior oncology consultants and other related medical disciplines in NETs oncology, and professional bodies.

He has convened/co-convened several annual PMCC preceptorships NET oncology, with national and international registrants.

Prof Michael has over 230 publications including high impact peer-reviewed articles, book chapters and reviews, with multiple conference presentations and has authored/co-authored over 190 conference abstracts
