The Unicorn Foundation invites people affected by Neuroendocrine Tumours (NETs), families and friends, and interested health professionals to our free forum. Join guest experts in discovering the latest developments in the management of NETs with the focus on “NETs – Multidisciplinary Care”.

Invited guest experts include :
A/Prof David Wyld – Medical Oncologist
A/Prof Wyld specialises in medical oncology. He trained in Brisbane and undertook a two year fellowship in Leeds in the UK before returning to the Royal Brisbane Hospital in 1997. For ten years he has been the Director of Medical Oncology at Royal Brisbane Hospital.
A/Prof David Pattison – Nuclear Medicine Specialist/Endocrinologist
Dr Pattison graduated from University of Melbourne in 2003 and subsequently completed dual specialty training in both endocrinology and nuclear medicine at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Austin Hospital and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne. In 2016 moved from the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre to his current role as Acting-Deputy Director of the Department of Nuclear Medicine & PET Services at the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital. He has a keen clinical and research interest in molecular imaging and radionuclide therapy of endocrine malignancies (including neuroendocrine tumours and thyroid cancer) and prostate cancer. He is the lead nuclear medicine physician for radionuclide therapy at RBWH and has introduced a clinical I-124 PET service for management of advanced thyroid cancer
Prof Jane Turner – Psychiatrist
Jane has worked for over 20 years in the field of Psycho-Oncology as a psychiatrist providing treatment for patients with cancer and their families, and developing a program of research focused on interventions in areas of clinical need, and translational research examining sustainable models of service delivery.
Dr Amanda Love – Endocrinologist
Amanda Love is an Endocrinologist at the RBWH who has a special interest in the Endocrinology of Oncology patients. This includes both treating patients for the long term endocrine sequelae of cancer therapies and also managing Neuroendocrine Tumours. She is the Endocrinologist on the NET MDT at RBWH, and has a large number of patients with heritable endocrine cancer conditions under her care for both treatment and surveillance.
Kate Wakelin – Unicorn Foundation NET Nurse
Kate Wakelin is a Registered Nurse with a Graduate Diploma in Psycho-Oncology. She has been caring for people affected by cancer for over 20 years, in areas including palliative care, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, research and supportive care.
A major focus was piloting and implementing the successful Telephone and Internet Support Groups Program with with the Cancer Information and Support Service (Cancer Council Victoria).
Throughout her career, Kate has maintained a passion for creating and maintaining innovative programs that strengthen the delivery of supportive care to people affected by cancer. BS (Nursing), Grad. Dip. (Psycho-Oncology)
