Our CEO / INCA President was invited to attend the Healing NETS Summit in Tampa Florida Friday 17 April – 19 April 2026. Attendees were from all over The USA, Canada, Ireland, France, Italy and Australia which included Clinicians, Nurses, Patient Advocacy Groups, patients, carers and Industry.
There was a fabulous atmosphere of collaboration demonstrated in a session demonstrating a live Tumour Board (Multidisciplinary Team) meeting discussing cases and treatment options. A focus of the Summit was looking at the future workforce for neuroendocrine cancer which aimed to have an Advanced NET Fellowship. This included diagnostic and therapeutic curriculums – what it would look like in practice.
The afternoon was breakout groups which then expanded on the curriculum, the structure and evaluation of the fellowship, practice exchange and mini fellowships and educating and supporting nurses. The next day the breakout groups reported back and there was a presentation on addressing burnout for clinicians.
Patients and carers had the opportunity to speak from their lived experiences about the care they received and deliver feedback on what worked and what didn’t. the final day was about advocacy. All the Patient Advocacy Groups could deliver a 2-minute elevator pitch about their organisations. Our CEO delivered the activities of NECA and then INCA – it was such a privilege to be able to showcase both these organisations and demonstrate our strengths and depth of the resources and unity internationally. Industry was given a session to discuss their goals and contribution to the care of neuroendocrine cancer patients and families. Further patient and carer reports were included.
After this breakout groups occurred and focused on Identify Unmet Needs for all. This generated many aspects of unmet needs and from the reports of the breakout groups, who then brainstormed and prioritised ways to bridge the gaps. . the final session was about Advocacy Collaborative Action Planning where the goals were for partnership, sharing, coordination and accountability.
It was so beneficial being together for this Summit and it has opened up doors for future networking and enhancing care for our neuroendocrine cancer communities globally. It also has enabled healthcare professionals to build on their own knowledge and resources to achieve optimal care for our patients.
