Why Your Donation to NeuroEndocrine Cancer Australia Funds Research That Changes Lives

We’re often asked by donors and supporters how they can contribute specifically to neuroendocrine cancer (NET) research. This article is an overview of what NeuroEndocrine Cancer Australia (NECA) is currently involved in, and how your donation directly supports that work.

Where your research dollar goes

NECA doesn’t just talk about supporting research, it is an active co-investigator and partner on some of the most important NET studies happening in Australia right now:

  • PLANETARI, a newly launched, nationally funded research initiative aimed at transforming how neuroendocrine cancer is understood and treated across the country.
  • AUS-NET, a national program helping build better pathways between GPs, specialists, and NET patients so the disease is recognised and managed earlier and more effectively.
  • A Para-Pheo clinical trial, supporting research into paraganglioma and phaeochromocytoma, rare and complex neuroendocrine conditions that need dedicated, specialised study.
  • An international study for Progression Free Survival (PFS) / Overall Survival(OS) impact for patients in clinical trials
  • Stop NET, contributing to a broader body of clinical trial work aimed at improving treatment outcomes for NET patients.

A recurring thread through this research is quality of life: less pain, fewer disruptive symptoms, and more good days.

Why donations matter

For Research, NECA relies almost entirely on private donations and fundraising. Continued participation in trials like these, and the ability to join new studies as they emerge, depends directly on donor support.

How to help

If you’d like to support neuroendocrine cancer research specifically, you can make a donation to NECA and note that you’d like your gift directed toward research. Donations over $2 are tax-deductible in Australia.
