Oncology for the Inquisitive Mind

  • October 5, 2023

Dr Josh Hurwitz and Dr Michael Fernando have created a podcast service “Oncology for the Inquisitive Mind”.

NECA was fortunate to have the opportunity to be a guest on this podcast on Thursday 28 September 2023. During the interview NECA was able to provide an overview of our achievements to date including the National Awareness Campaign, an overview of NeuroEndocrine Cancer Australia and it’s services, a background on NETs, incidence & prevalence, misdiagnosis, patient challenges, and  clinician challenges.

The NET Education Modules were discussed for HCPs, the launch of the Optimal Care Pathway (OCP) and the benefits of the NET OCP and quick reference guide. NECA’s National Action Plan featured ad highlighted the need for funding for support and research. Josh and Michael updated the listeners on current clinical trials available in Australia.

NECA explained the PLANET Registry and the NET Centres of Excellence around Australia. The interview concluded with the challenges which continue to be experienced and what would be  on our wish list to rectify and improve outcomes for NET patients. Thank you so much Josh and Michael for enabling NECA to have a voice and convey the needs of the NETs community.

This podcast spans every continent (>100 countries) with the biggest audience being Australia, USA and the UK followed by Canada and Germany.

You can listen to the full podcast HERE.
