Peter MacCallum 25th Anniversary of PRRT with Professor Rod Hicks

  • September 12, 2021

On Sunday September 12, NeuroEndocrine Cancer Australia and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre celebrated 25 years of Peptide Receptor Radionuclide Therapy (PRRT).

We were so pleased to see such a large turn out from our neuroendocrine cancer community, all keen to support each other and pay tribute to what has been an incredible 25 years of PRRT, lead by Professor Rod Hicks.

Throughout the afternoon we heard from:

Professor Rod Hicks, the Honorary Victorian Governor Linda Dessau AC, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre CEO Prof Shelley Dolan, A/Prof Kong and Simone Leyden representing NECA.

A/Prof Grace Kong guided us through the latest in clinical research before we were privy to a mock NET MDT meeting with leading specialists from Peter MacCallum including; Prof Michael, A/Prof Kong, A/Prof Cherie Chiang, Dr Bill Murray, Dr Benjamin Loveday, Dr Phil Chan, Meg Rogers & Leah Neeson. This was an informative insight into what is taken in to consideration, when decisions are made for optimal patient care and treatment.

We thank everyone involved who took the time to record a very moving tribute video to Professor Rod Hicks who is stepping down from his role as Director of molecular imaging and therapeutic nuclear medicine. This video was a fitting end to what was an incredibly insightful, informative and warm afternoon.

We were delighted that well over 100 friends of Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and NeuroEndocrine Cancer Australia took time out of their Sunday join us for the afternoon and enjoy a rare glimpse into treatment and care from a healthcare specialist perspective.
