NECA have now extended our Specialist Support Services (Telehealth) for patients and their families. Joining the NECA team we now have Counselling and Dietitian services in addition to the NET Nurses – appointments will be conducted either by telephone or via Teams (virtual platform) – Welcome aboard Amanda and Caley!

Counsellor:

Amanda is a registered counsellor and a passionate advocate for NeuroEndocrine Cancer Australia. Amanda has lived experience as a NET patient, and since 2016 is an active member of the Consumer Advisory Group for NECA.

Amanda is also a Global Advisory Board member for INCA, the International Neuroendocrine Cancer Alliance. Having completed a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education, Amanda went on to complete her Masters with the University of Queensland, specialising in counselling.

Amanda has worked across a range of industries including, health, education and the cultural sector. Wellbeing and positive mental health are at the forefront of Amanda’s professional practice, and she enjoys building rapport with a diverse range of people.

Amanda is available every Monday and Tuesday.

Dietitian:

Caley is an Accredited Practising Dietitian in Australia. She graduated with a Bachelor of Dietetics at the University of Pretoria in South Africa in 2002 and moved to the United Kingdom a year later.

Caley started working at the Royal Free Hospital (London), which is a NET Centre of Excellence, in 2008 as Clinical Specialist Dietitian in Neuroendocrine Tumours (NETs) and Oncology, where her interest in working with NET patients began. She gained invaluable experience working within the multidisciplinary NET team for almost 5 years. During this time she also worked on the oncology inpatient ward, as well as the chemotherapy and radiotherapy suites.

Caley has presented at national and international conferences and patient support groups about Nutrition for Neuroendocrine Tumours. She has volunteered for NECA since arriving in Australia in 2012, developing nutrition resources for NET patients and giving educational talks to both patients and health professionals. Caley is very passionate about educating patients and other health professionals with regards to the importance of nutrition and management of bowel problems for patients with neuroendocrine tumours.

Caley is available every alternate Monday.
