Raising Awareness for NETs on World Cancer Day in WA

World Cancer Day SCGH

On World Cancer Day, our WA NET Nurse, Tammy, proudly represented NeuroEndocrine Cancer Australia (NECA) at an awareness event held at Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital.

Tammy hosted an information table throughout the day, speaking with hospital staff, patients and visitors about neuroendocrine cancer (NETs) — raising awareness of this often misunderstood and frequently misdiagnosed disease. There was strong interest from both clinicians and the broader hospital community, with many people keen to learn more about NETs and the support available through NECA.

Importantly, the connections made on the day will help us continue building awareness in Western Australia. Following the event, the organiser kindly offered to display NECA posters on the hospital’s event board to help promote upcoming initiatives — including our March4NETs events and local support group meetings in Perth and Bunbury.

Opportunities like this are vital in helping us raise awareness of neuroendocrine cancer and ensuring patients know they are not alone.

A heartfelt thank you to the team at Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital for hosting such a meaningful World Cancer Day event and for supporting the NET community in WA.
