On Wednesday 12 June 2019 the Unicorn Foundation in collaboration with Sydney Vital, Primary Health Network (North) and Ipsen held a GP Education Forum at Norths Leagues Club.

We had 20 GPs and several other healthcare professionals attend the evening. The presentations on the night were:

  • NETs – what is it, how is it diagnosed and an overview of management options by Dr David Chan
  • Multidisciplinary Care with Comprehensive Case presentations by A/Prof Nick Pavlakis
  • Living with NETs by Meredith Cummins.

The evening was very well received and enabled a lot of interaction and discussion. Many of the GPs have not knowingly had a NET patient and they acknowledged that this was an area which more education would be very welcome.

The Unicorn Foundation has utilized this as a pilot event for further accredited education sessions. In the coming year we will be creating multimedia methods of delivering education to GPs to increase their knowledge by modules, conference attendance and face to face. We are very excited to continue to work with Sydney Vital to promote best practice for NET patients.
