Inagural APNETS Conference

In Kuala Lumpur on October 26th-27th Simone Leyden of the Unicorn Foundation attended the inaugural Asia Pacific Neuroendocrine Tumor Conference. It was a fantastic meeting of specialists in the region and it was a credit to the Organising Chairman and President, Datuk (Mr) Harjit Singh and organising committee.

The programme covered a variety of topics including Epidemiology of NETs in the Asia-Pacific Region, Biomarkers in NETs, Diagnostic Dilemmas in NETs (I am not Nuts, I just have NETs), Role of Endoscopy in NETs, What is new in Molecular Imaging?, Surgery and Management of NETs. The invited faculty included Prof Kjell Oberg (Uppsala), Prof Bertram Wiedenmann (Germany) and our own Prof Rod Hicks (Australia) as well as specialists from Singapore, India, China, Malaysia and Korea.

Everyone was impressed by the high standard and we are hopeful that the conference continues to grow with a greater presence from Australia and New Zealand.

The Unicorn Foundation would like to thank the APNETs organising committee for our exhibitor space and attendance at the conference, as well as Novartis Australia for providing an educational grant for travel to the event.
