Brisbane NET Patient Forum November 2022

After a long period of no face to face events due to COVID, NECA facilitated a NET Patient Education Forum, Tuesday 1 November 2022, at the Brisbane Convention Centre.

This was held from 5.30 – 7.30pm and had over 30 patients and carers attending. We were so grateful to have three NET Specialists from RBWH presenting – A/Prof David Pattison (Nuclear Medicine Physician / Endocrinologist), Dr Amanda Love (Endocrinologist) and Dr Mark Nalder (Medical Oncologist). Meredith Cummins (CEO) opened the event with current statistics on the incidence and prevalence of NETs and an overview of NECAs activities.

Topics discussed at the Forum were an overview of NETs including grading, staging, treatments and clinical trials by Dr Nalder, Hereditary NETs by Dr Love and delivery of PRR, PET scans, new frontiers of Nuclear Medicine treatments and Clinical Trials by  A/Prof Pattison. After the presentations there was time for patients to ask questions of the speakers. This was a very interactive part of the evening and was very much appreciated by all attending to have the opportunity to meet together, gain valuable information and meet some of the NET Specialists in Queensland.

We look forward to being able to hold more forums nationally.
