Overview
This week we were very happy to be joined by guest expert Dr John Leyden AM. John is known to many of us as the co-founder of NeuroEndocrine Cancer Australia (along with his sister, Simone), and is also a cardiac anaesthesiologist, specialising in the management of carcinoid crisis. We asked John to join us today to talk about allergies, anaphylaxis, adrenaline and carcinoid syndrome/carcinoid crisis.
Some of the areas discussed included:
What is anaphylaxis?
The management of anaphylaxis with adrenaline, when someone has NETs
Decision making and timing around the COVID-19 vaccinations for people with NETs
The importance of being your own advocate
The importance of managing anxiety
