World NET Cancer Day 2018

  • November 26, 2018

World NET Cancer Day 2018 was a huge success thanks to the hard work and generosity of all the cafes, workplaces and Unicorn friends around Australia. We are so grateful to everyone who helped with our “Let’s Talk About NETS” coffee cup campaign, we couldn’t do it without you!

As a way to raise awareness in the lead up to
World NET Cancer Day on November 10, 2018 the Unicorn Foundation reached out to
patients and carers to submit videos of themselves highlighting the symptoms
and affects of Neuroendocrine (NETs) tumours. These videos were taken and edited into small 1 minute videos that were posted across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. There were 9 videos that were created in total; 7 individual patient videos and 2 compilation videos. The series of videos was titled ‘The Voice of NETs’ and the aim was to reach a wider audience, drawing attention to the common symptoms and impact of NETs and encourage conversation amongst the online community.

In addition to the videos, the Unicorn Foundation provided support
across social media on World NET Cancer Day by sharing any photos and posts
provided by participating cafes and venues. Relevant content from the APNETs
symposium that took place in Melbourne was also posted. A total of 620,000 impressions were gained on social media throughout
the campaign. This is a very impressive contribution which helps to raise
awareness around NETs.

Thank you once again to all our patients and carers who took the time
to participate in the videos and to any cafes, ambassadors, or individuals who
tagged us on World NET Cancer Day and shared the message #LetsTalkAboutNets.

We'd like to list all participating cafes and venues again here to thank them once again for helping us in this campaign:
