Raising awareness of neuroendocrine cancer at Peninsula Bays Hospital Wellness Day

Thank you to NET patient Kristen Leknius for hosting a neuroendocrine cancer information table at the February Peninsula Bays Hospital Wellness Day.

With around 250 people attending across the day, the event provided an important opportunity to share information about neuroendocrine cancers and increase awareness of NETs. Having NETs represented alongside other health and wellbeing services helps ensure more people recognise the signs and symptoms, understand the challenges patients face, and know where to find support.

Regional community events like this play an important role in improving awareness and access to reliable information, particularly for people who may not otherwise encounter neuroendocrine cancer resources. Increasing visibility of NETs helps reduce delays in diagnosis, promote referral pathways to specialist care and ensures neuroendocrine cancer remains part of broader health conversations.

This day highlighted the essential role patients play in advocacy and awareness. By sharing her time and experience, Kristen helped ensure that more people left the event knowing that support, information and a community exist for those affected by neuroendocrine cancer.
