Medicines Australia PharmAus event in Canberra

NECA attended the Medicines Australia ‘PharmAus’ event in Canberra September 6th in the Great Hall at Parliament House.

This year’s theme was ‘Partnering for Future Health’, with aims to facilitate improving health outcomes for all Australians working in collaboration with Government, patients, clinicians, and other key stakeholders to bring our health system into the 21st century. The evening included brief addresses from both the Minister and the Shadow Minister for Health and Aged Care and Industry Showcase stands plus networking time.

Shadow Minister for Health and Aged Care Anne Ruston’s address aligned with several of NECAs national action plan key points such as the need for more specialised nurses, and that this resource has been under-utilised and under-funded to date for all diseases, plus the need for national targeted research. The Minister for Health and Aged Care Mark Butler spoke broadly to the need to engage with thought leaders and decision makers to drive significant lasting reform to improve the health of all- he did say we can do more for people with neuroendocrine cancer as he was whisked past NECA after speaking- we look forward to holding him to that!
