A huge thank you to Shauna and John Parsons who completed the Bibbulmun Track late last year and raised over $11,000 for our foundation.
Motivated by their personal experiences with neuroendocrine cancers (after Shauna’s brother, Michael Doyles was diagnosed with inoperable, incurable, metastatic, midgut neuroendocrine tumours), their aim was to raise awareness of neuroendocrine tumours (NETs) through the Unicorn Foundation and to also help raise funds so Western Australia can have a dedicated nurse for NET patients.
Upon returning from their trek, Shauna and John were invited to speak about their journey and the reasons they chose to raise funds for neuroendocrine cancers to 30 members of the Esperance Rotary Club. The 10 minute presentation, held during dinner was very well received and we hear Shauna and John have since been invited to join the Esperance Rotary Club.
Thank you Shauna and John, for your incredible efforts in raising funds and awareness for neuroendocrine cancer patients. We look forward to continuing our efforts with you to hopefully obtain a dedicated NET Nurse in WA soon.
