"Bridging Gaps, Building Progress, Breaking Down Disparities

From 13–15 November, NECA CEO Meredith Cummins joined leading healthcare professionals at the 2024 Clinical Oncology Society of Australia (COSA) Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) on the Gold Coast “including a NECA exhibition booth. This year’s theme, “Bridging Gaps, Building Progress, Breaking Down Disparities” sparked insightful discussions about improving equity, access, and care in oncology.

We look forward to attending the 2025 COSA Annual Scientific Meeting in Adelaide.

Key Topics

  •  Equity, access, and advocacy
  • Breaking barriers with technology
  • Cancer care in vulnerable populations
  • Gender and access to care
  • Artificial intelligence in healthcare
  • Supporting caregivers while caring for yourself

"The event highlighted the importance of equity in care and the need to embrace innovation to ensure all NET patients receive the support they deserve."

NET Support Care Breakfast

On Friday, 15 November, the NET Support Care Breakfast “Supporting NETs – Dispelling the Disparity and creating Equity” provided an invaluable platform to share the latest advancements in Neuroendocrine Tumour (NET) care. The session was chaired by Dr David Chan (Chair of COSA NET group) and topics included:

📝 Nutrition updates and NET-specific tools – Dr. Erin Laing
🩺 Psychosocial care and survivorship – Kate Wakelin
💪 Exercise guidelines for NETs – Morgan Farley
💙 NECA’s supportive and educational services – Meredith Cummins

The session was a truly great representation and the importance of the multidisciplinary team delivering care including NECA (Patient Advocacy Organisation).
