A night to remember!
Friday, October 25, 2024, was truly a night to remember as Rob Hammond hosted his annual fundraiser, The Flinders Island Cup – Racing for a Cure 2024. Thanks to Rob’s extraordinary dedication and the support of his family, friends, and community members, $53,500 was raised to support Neuroendocrine Cancer (NET) awareness and patient support.
Our deepest gratitude goes out to Rob and his entire family for their unwavering commitment to making a difference in the NET community. Special thanks go to Rob’s sister Gaye and his brother Chris, who is also a NET patient, for standing by his side, as well as to Philippa Morgan, our dedicated Tasmanian Consumer Advisory Group member. We’re immensely grateful for the continued support from Dean Winter and Janie Finlay, who formerly continued their pledge to employ a NET Nurse in Tasmania within two weeks of a successful election result—a vital step toward improving access to care for NET patients in Tasmania.
Earlier in the day, a media panel was held with Rob, Chris, Gaye, Philippa, and our NECA Partnerships Manager, who openly shared their insights and experiences in to NET patient challenges. We extend our thanks to local media, including Channel 9 (Win), Channel 7, The Examiner, and The Mercury newspapers, for their coverage and for helping raise further awareness about the challenges of living with NETs in Tasmania.
