Help us hit our target

NET Nurse Donation page (1)

Our current patient to nurse ratio is unsustainable. We aim to push through these challenging times and raise $120,000 for additional NET tele-health nurses.

Ideally, we would like to see at least one NECA specialist NET tele-health nurses in every state and territory of Australia. Until we are able to secure this funding, our current resources are stretched and unsustainable. We urge you to donate today so we can recruit additional NET tele-health nurses.

What would additional NET tele-health nurses mean to our patients?

  • More patients supported each month.
  • More support and collaboration with support groups.
  • Decrease our response time from 48 hours to 24 hours.
Despite the increase in Australians being diagnosed with Neuroendocrine Tumours (NETs), Neuroendocrine Cancer Australia receives no assistance from the government to fund much needed specialist NET tele-health nurses.

Over the past 16 months, COVID has forced border closures, social distancing and support groups to resort to Zoom. Many patients were unable to have family and friends visit their homes for months on end. Our NET nurse calls are longer and our resources are stretched beyond capacity. Although we face tough times ahead, as an organisation we have always been able to perform on the “smell of an oily rag”, and with your help this will continue. Our patients need over the phone and online NET Nurse support more often, more in depth, more than ever.

Every dollar donated to this page will help fund additional NET tele-health nurses.

What NET Patients have to say about our NET Nurse service, and what NeuroEndocrine Cancer Australia means to them.

The NET Nurses' incredible knowledge of Neuroendocrine cancer along with her compassionate manner got me through mentally after being diagnosed by providing direction and advice. The NET Nurse does outstanding work in keeping me and all Australian Neuroendocrine cancer patients informed and updated on latest treatments, news and research, and is the ‘go to’ person when questions need to be answered fast.

My husband Andrew was diagnosed with NETs in Dubai in May 2020. After being introduced to the fantastic NETs web site, I reached out to the NET Nurse as our first point of call as we navigated this new world. She virtually held my hand as we made forward arrangements to meet with oncologists in Australia. The NET Nurse's reassuring, respectful, caring approach and her commitment to this cause is awesome. Thanks Neuroendocrine Cancer Australia.

I have nothing but praise for NECA. The wonderful support we get from the NET Nurse and the rest of the team is precious, it is my go to place for information and education re NETS. The online chatter of the group is a great place to communicate with people who understand thus one does not feel so alone.

We finally had somewhere that we could get up to date information and talk to someone for advice and reassurance. NECA are a small group that work tirelessly to educate the medical community and general public in the early diagnosis of Neuroendocrine Cancer. NECA liaise with the Oncology Departments around Australia so that when someone is newly diagnosed with a NET, they are given information on NECA and the contact information for the NET Nurse Helpline. By educating those with Neuroendocrine cancer through support groups, printed literature, on-line presentations and the NET- Nurse helpline, NeuroEndocrine Cancer Australia empowers the patient to be active in their treatment decisions and to improve their quality of life. NECA improves the outcome for patients by lobbying for new treatments and investigations, collaborating with Australian and International communities and encouraging research and trials into NETs.
