The Unicorn Foundation invites people affected by Neuroendocrine Tumours (NETs), families and friends, and interested health professionals to our free forum. Join guest experts in discovering the latest developments in the management of NETs with the focus on “NETs – Multidisciplinary Care”.

Invited guest experts include :
Dr Louise Nott, Medical Oncologist – Overview of NETs and Management
Louise completed her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (Honours) at the University of Tasmania. She received FRACP in internal medicine in 2005 and Medical Oncology in 2006. She worked as a Fellow at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Adelaide before returning to Hobart and working as a Staff Specialist Medical Oncologist at the Royal Hobart Hospital since 2007 and in private practice since 2012.
She holds an Honorary Associate Position Sydney Medical School and University Associate with the Menzies Research Institute in Tasmania. Louise has a strong interest in clinical research and has published widely. She has been a Principal Investigator/Sub investigator on over 50 oncology clinical trials. She also plays an active role in medical oncology education at both undergraduate and Australian fellowship training level.
Louise has extensive experience in treating a wide variety of cancers and is dedicated to providing excellence in cancer care for her patients and families.
Dr Louise Prentice, Endocrinologist – Hereditary Syndromes eg. MEN, Phae
Dr Prentice trained as an endocrinologist, completing FRACP in endocrinology in 1993. She worked in a private practice in Melbourne for three years until deciding to develop skills in epidemiology. She Worked with Professor Flavia Ciccuttini and Professor John McNeil in the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, Monash University until 2002.
From 2012, Dr Prentice has worked as a Senior Lecturer in the School of Medicine, coordinating Functional Clinical Practice (CAM305) and the third year Medicine rotation in the Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS).
Andrew Bonsey, Accredited Exercise Physiologist – Exercise Physiology
Andrew has a strong personal and professional passion for health and fitness. He specialises in injury rehabilitation and management of chronic disease through the use of exercise and lifestyle coaching. Andrew is the Director of the HT Health Group at the Wrest Point Health Club, which incorporates the allied health practice and health club facilities.
Kate Wakelin, Unicorn Foundation NET Nurse – Psychological Impact of NETs
Kate Wakelin is a Registered Nurse with a Graduate Diploma in Psycho-Oncology. She has been caring for people affected by cancer for over 20 years, in areas including palliative care, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, research and supportive care.
A major focus was piloting and implementing the successful Telephone and Internet Support Groups Program with with the Cancer Information and Support Service (Cancer Council Victoria).
Throughout her career, Kate has maintained a passion for creating and maintaining innovative programs that strengthen the delivery of supportive care to people affected by cancer. BS (Nursing), Grad. Dip. (Psycho-Oncology)
