On 2nd September 2025, NeuroEndocrine Cancer Australia CEO Meredith Cummins and Media and External Relations Manager Ciara Connolly attended CanForum 2025, a leading national conference on cancer care and policy. The forum brought together patients, carers, healthcare professionals, and policymakers to discuss the state of cancer treatment in Australia, share experiences, and explore strategies for improvement.
A strong theme throughout the event was the patient and carer perspective, particularly the challenges and significant costs borne by patients when PBS reimbursement does not extend to their cancer type or indication. These issues are all too familiar to people living with neuroendocrine cancer, and it was both striking and encouraging to see a room full of attendees united in frustration and determination to push for change.
The discussions reinforced the urgent need for more equitable access to medicines and highlighted the importance of patient voices in shaping policy and improving cancer care. NeuroEndocrine Cancer Australia remains committed to advocating for meaningful reforms that reduce financial and systemic barriers for all patients.
