NECA Christmas and New Year Closure Details

  • November 18, 2025

Ten tips during the holiday season.

Neuroendocrine Cancer Australia advises holiday closure dates effective COB Tuesday 23 December 2025 to Friday 2 January 2026 inclusive. We will reopen on Monday, 5 January 2026.

Our NET nurses are available (Wednesday 24 December, Monday 29 December, Tuesday 30 December, Wednesday 31 December, Friday 2 January 2026) on the NET Nurse phone line.

Our NET Nurses are not available on the Public Holidays.

If you need support on days our NET Nurses are not available, you can contact the Cancer Council on 13 11 20.

We wish everyone a safe, happy and healthy holiday season.

We understand that Christmas and the holiday season may be difficult to navigate for patients and carers in our Neuroendocrine Cancer community. Feelings, emotions and physical symptoms can sometimes present challenges to cope with, particularly around the holiday season. We’ve put together some tips that may help you to navigate this time.

Communicate gentle honesty

Communicate with gentle honesty how you are feeling – both to your loved
ones and to yourself.

Set boundaries

It is okay to set boundaries during the holiday season. Give yourself the gift
of kindness.

Prioritise the things that nurture you

Prioritise the things that nurture you. Pace yourself to best manage your own
energy levels. Focus on what brings you comfort and happiness.

Reframe your expectations

Reframe your expectations – think about your traditions and rather than trying
to achieve all of them, keep it simple.

Social connection

Social connection – use technology to stay connected if you are unable to
attend a celebration in person.

Focus on the positive

Focus on the positive and find meaning in the season – identify moments of
joy and remind yourself of them. Prioritise your attention to the present
moment.

Plan early

Plan early – organise your schedule to include time to relax. Embrace your
own relaxation and mindfulness strategies to reduce stress.

Delegate tasks

Delegate tasks – focus on what you feel you can achieve and delegate to
others to help.

Celebrate in new ways

Celebrate in new ways – change doesn’t have to be scary. Consider talking
with others about how they celebrate and consider adopting a new tradition!

Connect early with your healthcare team

Connect early with your healthcare team – holiday seasons can reduce the
availability of appointments. Talk to your healthcare team about this early to
make sure your own healthcare needs are covered over the holiday period.
