As part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, last Saturday the 16th of March, Fowles Wine hosted a Farm Gate Lunch feast at the historic Killeen Stables in the Strathbogie Ranges. Originally built in the 1800’s, it has recently been refurbished into a stylish event space surrounded by 300 year old gum trees and quintessential Australian countryside.
The Feast celebrated regional food and wine, highlighting local purveyors and pairing their produce with a curated selection of Fowles Wine.
For many years the Fowles family have used this event to show their support for the Unicorn Foundation – hosting an auction dedicating the proceeds to the ongoing work of the Unicorn Foundation, in particular the specialist NET Nurse Helpline. As a family with a history in auctioneering, they are experts at entertaining a room and having everyone on the edge of their seats.
This year, Fowles Wine put forward several items for auction including the special 10th Anniversary Edition of the Ladies who Shoot their Lunch framed print, Double Wine Magnum of two exceptional vintages of Fowles Wine, a vertical back vintage giftpack of six bottles of The Rule, the opportunity to work with Fowles Wine creative team to design a bespoke wine label on a dozen bottles of wine, and lunch in Fowles Wine new private dining area in the brand new restaurant and cellar door scheduled to open in the first week of April.
A total of $4372 was raised, with some items even being sold twice!
Fowles Wine look forward to hosting and building on this event again next year – to hear about upcoming events at Fowles Wine please join their e-newsletter or follow them on Instagram or Facebook.
